A Circle within Six Circles
2009
Paper cut, black & white tinted paper, 61 parts, each framed 22,5 cm x 31 cm

Traditional Arabic patterns are derived from six circles accompanied by varied configurations within the circles.
Inspired by the intricate layout of these traditional patterns, new orders of geometry were created.
The artist printed a single plate containing a motif on a sheet of black or white paper, then cut out portions of the design and turned it over to obscure the original pattern. Through this process infinite structures of original patterns were transformed into abstract images.
